Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety is a very different experience for different people. Most commonly it can manifest as headaches, stomach and digestive problems, uncontrollable feelings of fear or worry, irritability, problems with concentration, an inability to calm thoughts, feelings of being trapped, racing heart, sleep problems, etc. People who struggle with depression often feel isolated and hopeless. Depression is not something people are able to ‘snap’ out of and is not similar to feeling sad or alone. Like anxiety, the presentation of depression is unique, and some symptoms can include: feeling hopeless, helpless and persistently sad and feeling guilty about it, insomnia, difficulties with concentration, lack of interest, isolation, irritability, etc.
Neurofeedback helps improve anxiety and depression symptoms by repeatedly guiding your brain to generate patterns correlated with a calmer state of mind. Through repeated training of exposure to beneficial brain activity, our brains learn to function more efficiently and maintain these healthier patterns. Through self-regulation we learn to manage our emotions and reduce the feelings of anxiety and depression.
